Erica Royal, MD, FACOG, is a native of Los Angeles, CA. She received her undergraduate degree in chemistry at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, before completing her medical education at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. Dr. Royal completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA, before moving back to Richmond, VA to start her practice.

Dr. Royal is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and is a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Minimally invasive surgery, general obstetrics and gynecology, as well as care for the young female athlete are particular interests of Dr. Royal.

Providing exceptional quality of care and patient safety are very important to Dr. Royal. Prior to joining Virginia Complete Care for Women, Dr. Royal served as Chairman of the Patient Safety Committee and was the Chief of Staff at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital in Richmond, VA. While a practicing OB/GYN in Richmond, Dr. Royal was named One of America’s Top Obstetrician/Gynecologists by the Consumer’s Research Council of America, and in 2015 was honored for Best Bedside Manner in “Our Health Richmond” magazine.

An active member of the Richmond medical community, Dr. Royal is a champion for women’s health across the Commonwealth. She has been a speaker for various local organizations on topics related to women’s health and has participated on committees and with causes in the community that seek to advance the specific health care needs of women.

Dr. Royal is excited to join Virginia Complete Care for Women and is looking forward to continuing to provide exceptional care to the women of Richmond. She is currently accepting new patients.
